ABOUT
Vessel of Honor
Our Vision
To provoke a generation of young black men to rise to the challenge of living a life and excelling in a world where they seemingly don’t belong ensuring that young men realize that it's a better way to do everything as a “Vessel of Honor.”
Value Statement
We at Vessel of Honor (VOH) value the biblical teaching of Jesus Christ and endeavor to honor God in everything we do. We value living a life that is pleasing to God but understand that this dynamic is not valued in mainstream culture. In day to day life, black and minority youth are led astray and boxed into a stereotypical outlook on living. Expected to be criminals, violent, or in jail by adulthood if not murdered by then. Additionally, presumed to be passive, submissive, and a slave to corporate America in the process of “being a good citizen," both of those are sad realities.
The majority of minority youth have been forced to choose from generation after generation; however, the purpose of VOH is to break down the barriers of stereotypical minority America starting with young African-American men. Our purpose is to equip, prepare, and motivate the youth to live, move, and have their being in whatever arena they are called to. Using their lives and nature for the glory of God while maneuvering amongst racism in present day America. Each person has a calling or individual God-given task that they're meant to complete while they are on this side of glory… “As a Vessel of Honor.”
A word from our Founder
Hello! My name is Robert Sanders Jr. I am a community engagement and outreach enthusiast, youth mental health advocate, compassionate public speaker and founder/CEO of Vessel of Honor (VoH). My goal through Vessel of Honor is to exhort, strengthen, and comfort others through my testimony; serving and meeting needs throughout my community with the purpose of glorifying God! My desire is to express to my community, student-athletes, and the broken that it’s possible to become completely shameless, guiltless, and free of condemnation from your past. You don’t have to be bound by your shortcoming or in a mental straight jacket due to your mistakes. You can truly smile at all the possibilities of your future. You don’t have to punish your future by dwelling on the pain of your past. We hope to see bridges built, lives changed, and that people would get a glimpse of who Jesus is through us! Be encouraged and redeem the time!
